The Leitner System — Flashcards That Match Your Memory
The flashcard section uses a five-box Leitner system. Cards start in box one. Answer correctly and the card moves up to the next box, where it appears less often. Answer incorrectly and it drops back to box one for more frequent review. This adjusts the spacing of each card to how well you actually know it. Words you have mastered take up less of your practice time. Words you find difficult appear more often until they stick. Research on spaced repetition consistently shows this approach improves long-term retention.
