How the citizenship test works
If you want to become a German citizen, you usually have to pass the citizenship test (“Einbürgerungstest”). The same question catalogue is used for the “Leben in Deutschland” test at the end of the orientation course.
The test has 33 questions: 30 from the general catalogue and 3 about the federal state where you live. Each question has four answers, and exactly one is correct. You have 60 minutes. You pass with 17 correct answers.
The test is always in German. That is why Langula shows each question in German first, with the translation in your language below it. You understand the content and learn the German words used in the test at the same time.
All questions are public. The best way to prepare is to go through the whole catalogue once and then take mock tests until you are safely above 17. The trainer collects the questions you get wrong, so you only practise what you do not know yet.
Learn German for naturalisation
For naturalisation you also need German at level B1. With Langula you can learn German for free, with explanations in your language, audio pronunciation and a course for appointments at government offices.
