A1Au café
I am in a café. I want a coffee. The coffee is hot. My friend Anna comes in. We talk and we laugh.
Le Cadre européen commun de référence (CECRL) répartit le niveau d’anglais en six étapes, de A1 (débutant) à C2 (quasi bilingue). Ici, tu écoutes la même histoire à chaque niveau.
I am in a café. I want a coffee. The coffee is hot. My friend Anna comes in. We talk and we laugh.
This morning I went to a small café near my house. I ordered a coffee and a piece of cake. Then my friend Anna arrived, and we talked about our weekend.
On Saturday morning I went to the little café around the corner, which has the best coffee in town. While I was waiting for my order, my friend Anna walked in, so we sat by the window and talked about our plans for the summer.
Last Saturday I treated myself to breakfast at the café around the corner, a place I'd been meaning to try for weeks. I'd barely sat down when my old friend Anna walked in, and we ended up chatting for two hours about her new job and whether she should move abroad.
Last Saturday I finally got round to trying the café on the corner, which had been quietly building a reputation for its coffee. No sooner had I settled in than Anna, whom I hadn't seen in ages, strolled through the door, and what was meant to be a quick breakfast turned into a two-hour conversation about whether she ought to take the job abroad.
Last Saturday I at last made good on my promise to try the unassuming café on the corner, whose coffee had acquired something of a cult following. Scarcely had I taken my seat when Anna – whom I hadn't laid eyes on in the best part of a year – wandered in, and what I'd envisaged as a hurried breakfast unfolded into a leisurely two-hour exchange on the merits of uprooting her life for a post overseas.
