Service

Langula provides a free, ad-supported language-learning service in the browser and as an app — with lessons, flashcards, grammar and pronunciation practice. There is no claim to constant availability; we may further develop, change or discontinue the service.

Account

You can create a free account to sync your progress. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and can delete your account at any time in the settings. A supporter subscription bought in the App Store or on Google Play does not end when you delete your account — cancel it there. A subscription bought on the website is cancelled at the end of the current period when you delete your account.

Free and advertising

Use is free of charge, and all learning content is available without a purchase. To finance the service, advertising is shown (see the privacy policy). There is no obligation to buy.

Supporter subscription

You can optionally become a supporter, with a monthly or yearly subscription — in the app or on the website. As a supporter you learn without ads (in the app and, when signed in, on the website), can download courses with their recordings as an offline pack in the app, and your learning streak is not broken if you skip one day a week (streak protection). The benefits apply to your Langula account, wherever you bought. All learning content stays free for everyone, with or without a subscription.

Buying in the app

Purchase and billing are handled by the App Store (Apple) or Google Play, whose terms apply in addition. You see the price in the store before you buy. The subscription renews automatically for the chosen period unless you cancel it in time before it ends — with Apple at least 24 hours in advance. You can cancel at any time in the subscription settings of your Apple or Google account. Any right of withdrawal and refunds follow the rules of the store you bought from.

Buying on the website

Your contractual partner is Thomas Harnisch (see imprint); payment is processed by the payment provider Stripe. You see the price before you buy, currently €1.99 per month or €19.99 per year. No VAT is charged under the German small business rule (§ 19 UStG). The subscription starts with the payment and renews automatically for the chosen period unless you cancel before it ends. You can cancel at any time, effective at the end of the current period, on langula.app under “Premium” → “Manage subscription”; the benefits remain until then. There is no pro-rata refund for partial periods.

If you buy from a country outside the EU, Stripe sells the subscription as a reseller (“merchant of record”) in its own name. Stripe is then your contractual partner for the purchase; its terms apply in addition, and the checkout shows the taxes due in your country.

Right of withdrawal when buying on the website

As a consumer you can withdraw from the contract within 14 days without giving reasons. The period starts when the contract is concluded. A clear statement is sufficient, e.g. by email to info@langula.app. If you withdraw, we refund all payments received within 14 days using the original means of payment.

The right of withdrawal expires early if we have begun performing the contract after you expressly agreed that we start before the withdrawal period ends and confirmed that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal (§ 356(5) German Civil Code). You give this consent in the checkout; the benefits are unlocked immediately after payment.

A purchase applies to one Langula account. One-time purchases from the earlier Langula app remain valid.

Refer a friend

With your personal invite link (in your account) you can invite others to Langula. If a person who signed up through your link takes out a paid supporter subscription for the first time (web, App Store or Google Play) and it has neither been withdrawn nor refunded 14 days after the first payment, you receive a reward: if you have an active web subscription, the monthly price is credited and offset against your next payment; otherwise your supporter status is extended by one month, following any time already paid for. Once 100 people you referred have subscribed, you receive supporter status permanently; we then cancel an active web subscription at the end of the paid period, while a subscription in the App Store or on Google Play is cancelled by you there.

If you signed up in the app, you can add an invite code in your account within 30 days of signing up. Each person can only be referred once, and your own accounts do not count. Rewards are not paid out in cash and cannot be transferred. In case of abuse, for example through fake accounts, we may refuse or revoke rewards. We may change or end the programme with effect for the future; rewards already earned remain valid.

Acceptable use

You use Langula for personal, non-commercial purposes. In particular, automated scraping, circumventing security or advertising mechanisms, abusing the infrastructure and sending unlawful content are prohibited.

Content and copyright

The learning content, texts and design are protected by copyright. Reproduction or distribution beyond private use requires our consent. Parts of the content are produced with AI assistance and reviewed editorially.

Liability

The service is provided without any guarantee of specific learning outcomes. We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence and for injury to life, body or health. For slight negligence we are liable only for the breach of essential contractual obligations and limited to the foreseeable, contract-typical damage. Liability under the Product Liability Act remains unaffected.

Changes

We may amend these terms when the service or the legal situation changes. The version published when you access the site applies.

Final provisions

German law applies. Should any provision be invalid, the remainder of the agreement remains effective.
